For those who haven't seen it , here is a piece written by Neville Thiele about his early life and how he came to the ABC.
Interesting, when he wrote the paper on loudspeaker design or what we generally refer to as Thiele - Small parameters, EMI , his employer at the time dismissed it as "an academic exercise of no practical interest" and didn't patent it
