Have a look a the minimal mics and the sound they get from them - the drums and bass particularly (to me) sound excellent.

why does this come with a warning. You got something against jazz?
Good mics + good musicians + good studio = good sound.
We're lucky that stuff like this still exists and we can hear what simplicity sounds like.
(and a drum kit that is treated as if it is one instrument, not ten)
