Blofeld VS Radias

Hey guys, I've never set my grubby mittens on either of these and am just wondering:
Which one excels more that the other in any particular areas?
By eye the radias looks like it has a thousand million more knobs and buttons than the blofeld - does this say something?
The style I play best fits in the category of ambient. Which ones better in general, and which one is best for me?

have played, do not like the sound at all...sounds very thin.


Blofeld is by Waldorf i think?? correct?? have not heard that, but maybe that might be a goer...

I'm actually into Ambient synths stuff myself, and I have tried a Radius twice in music stores and to be honest it didn't wow me. Sure you could get a lot of mileage out of it if you prod it in the right direction but it always had a hit and miss quality to it which made it a constant search for the sweet spot sounds - I find almost all synths have this to a varying degree but the Radius was worst than most.

Blofeld is very Waldorf sounding, I'd say a better quality basic sound than the Radius too.
No different to the sound of the previous Waldorf synths, just cheaper and nicer design. It offers the iconic PPG/Waldorf style wavetable synthesis which there is some if in that demo, it sounds quite unique and kinda fizzy to me, hard to explain.

The interface is the weak point in the Blofeld when I have tried it in the past, not that it is bad but it would take me a fair while to be comfortable with it and to get any real sound design done quickly.


If you're into ambient you owe it to yourself to check out the original (now discontinued) Roland V-Synth and the Access Virus line of synths, these are perfect for creating beautiful ambient synth sounds, but they are at a higher pricepoint than the Radius and Blofeld.

Just some food for thought.
