Hi, i came across a deceased estate sale, the fellow was into live sound and PA hire, they have a eurodesk 32 channel, asking 600 but they will accept 450, its recently been serviced and looks fairly good for its age, is it worth 450? i feel that it is, it would definitely get used and if it breaks then easy come easy go is my motto.

my girl said i shouldnt bother and save it for a mic or channel strip purchase but im an impulse buyer and my impulses say get it.

Do you need a console? If you do, get it. If you don't listen to your gf! They keep us on the straight and narrow.

better to have one great channel than 32 lifeless channels. I say listen to the girl.

I wouldn't buy a 32 channel Eurodesk. For the same money, a Mackie or Soundcraft might offer a better sound, especially if you're not going to use 32 channels but more like 8-12.

And if you only use 1 or 2 channels, then consider the channel strip advice seriously. Even a RNP or Focusrite pre would offer a better sound than the Eurodesk.

I once bought a be!@#$%^& mixer and it distorted my keyboard sound so badly, that I have never used it. It's sitting here and is "DFU" (dead useless).

So make you buying decisions based on the utility of the device.

You get what you pay for.

I have had to mix through B*#$%& mixers and they just sound terrible.
I hate the eqs in them.

I have a Mackie that I bought to replace a be!@#$%^& 2442 (are Eurodesks the the blue ones?), I don't think it sounds any better but it has a little more cred when people see it. The right main output died, probably an easy fix but replaced it because I couldn't afford to not have one while the local shop fixed it. They don't like working on them, so keep that in mind too.

There have been a fair few "fixer-upper" desks go though eBay lately, dirt cheap if you have the patience/skills to do the work. I don't :(

yeah im dubious when it comes to anything behrenger, but i am looking to get out there and start a pa hire/live rig going, for the local kids and some of the bands where i am they would benefit from it as well as myself. i have a few few bins and a sub, for a starter rig its perfect for the price.

but in relation to 13ths post, i agree better that have something that will benfit my recording chain than a pov desk.

i dunno....i'm giving it the weekend to decide i think.

If I am in two minds, I always go with not doing/buy something.

You can always get something better.

Cheap soundcraft desks come up all the time.

Even cheap Allen & Heath Mixwiz come up.

Hey there is a really cool old Yamaha desk on ebay right now. The old yamaha's apparently are really great bang for buck. Certainly would be better than any be!@#$%^&. Have a look and do your research.

Careful the guy might have died due to Eurodesk exposure. :)
I know it's difficult financially but if it's for the kids benefit there could be local community/council grant money.
Maybe something smaller that 1 person can carry safely - 16 channel, 4 aux sends (2 for foldback), inserts for outboard later. Sounds like you
need graphics/effects/amps/crossover for your bins?
Most of the local kids bands will only need 16 inputs for there setups. And you'll save your back from lugging a piece of crap around. :)
Have a look at the smaller Yamaha MG series or Allen & heath, they should be going for just as much, if not a little more.
