I have a pair of Yorkville YSM1P's which i am less than happy about as general monitors...

one of em works 100%, the other has an annoying buzz when its around 100Hz or so...otherwise it works perfectly...

its too expensive to repair, for the price of these speakers....and i dont think i could even sell the pair...

wtf do u do?!?

Keep the dodgy one, drop it a couple of times and then use it as an auratone..

If you want to repair the speaker an email to Yorkville might be a good start, they may have replacement cone/voice coil assemblies, assuming that is the problem, it could of course be a bent frame, in which case its not repairable. If its not worth the effort then junk it and get a replacement driver, once again the manufacturer would be a good place to start.

true that, thanks for that..prob is the speakers were 1K brand new a while back, so a replacement cone may be too expensive, i guess instead of "guessing" i should ask...

god damn it, just called Dynamic Music...the aussie distro...they stopped making em, getting a recone at the Speaker Doctor seems to be the only solution...prob will cost more than the damn speaker...ffs.

edit: The speaker Hospital...not the speaker doctor...

price of a recone is 250 or so....will see whats wrong with these...guess i answered my own question...

I've had no dramas getting PA stuff reconed by Etone for a lot less than that. Another option may be to get a pair of replacement woofers with similar specs to the originals, if you know the specs.

But you should recone both speakers to make them matched.
Even different cardboard affects the sound of monitors.
Subkik is the best choice for the working one
