Anyone seen the Alan Parsons DVDs?

Wondering if anyone has seen the "how to mix" DVDs from Alan Parsons?
I think I saw them advertised in SOS.

Don't need to. Cubase has mastering plugins, so now I can just skip mixing altogether.

I bought the DVD's when I did an essay on him. They're not worth it!

Just be careful. Don't forget he is the eye in the sky, he's looking at you, and he can read your mind.
(I spoke to him once about the stuff he did with Pilot. He was a bit wierd at first, then he suddenly became really friendly and informative in a flash. He told me he used dolby A units to process a lot of percussion, running it through them a couple of times to make them really thuddy)

That's some interesting Info Andy. The first thing I did when I got my tape machine was sell off the DBX noise reduction system that came with it, but DBX and dolby where different beasts. Some of the older DBX comps get what i imagine is a similar sound as i'm not familiar with dolby A.

They seem a little biased towards beginners, If you have been around for a while you wont get a great deal from them.
still occasional insights however, especially if you (like many people these days) are on your own and don't interact with other engineers so much.

I paid to the vids as they came out...they were a good intro for a nublet like myself but you old hands probably wouldn't get much out of them. Some interesting insights "we used ... On DSOTM and it worked brilliantly" etc but they're far and few between. A decent primer but only scratches the surface.
