To the men on the forum - any thoughts on this?

All the recordings I've heard lacked the bottom end that you "feel" when you use one.

I have one, but haven't recorded it.
Great sound. I would definitely record in stereo. Any mics with good low freq response should work.

Good pair of mics then pan them left and right plus sum them to an aux panned centre with some sort of sub synthesizer over it like maxx bass or a dbx.
I've heard one good recording on some sfx library years ago.

Good thinking on the stereo recording - the trajectory of the device in action is a challenge - need a big room I guess...... the depth of note is the other challenge - most mics seem to bottom out too high - I read in one article they produce sonics down to 6Hz (yes, I know we can't hear that deep but we can feel it - especially when you play the device).

Make sure you've got heavy duty windsocks. They stir up a lot of wind. And make sure the mics are outside the arc of the bullroarer or you'll get a big surprise!

Some 30 years ago I recorded a bull roarer. In quad no less.

What about binaural recording, so you record what the 'player' hears?

^ that gives me an idea - one omni mic on the player and stereo mics for the listener
