Postby Jonathan Kristian » Fri Nov 14, 2008 9:52 am

Hi all,

For sale is an AWA BIG-1, this unit has been modded by rob squire to include attack and release controls. Ive had the unit for about a year but just dont use it enough to justify keeping it and could do with the cash. Im sure im going to regret letting it go though.

I will post photos in the next couple of days.

Asking $2250

Jonny,.......don't do it!! As you already know, these are kick ass compressors, amazing on bass, vocals, kicks, practically anything!
You will miss it and regret it. I'm just glad I don't have to find the dollars for it as I already have four. hehe! good luck bro.

It sold for just $1275. Just goes to show, its not what its worth, its what someone will pay ....

I think it sold for a fair price. I'm sure Jonny would have wanted more for it, but it went for around the price they have been selling for in the last year or so.

Well nIC,
You should grab one if you can. Really great compressors, especially for the money (Well they were when I got mine)
Yeah the cat is really out of the bag now on these.

surely there can't be any more of these left in the country that haven't passed through Pro Harmonic for a spit and polish! I've lost track of how many i've repaired, racked, modified over the last few years.

and yeah i reckon they are a pretty handy limiter

Hi Rob

I have one unmodified. AWA Big-1A. If you have time I'd like to send it over.
It's had a spit and polish (the little FET is new) but needs to be modified with attack and release.

Joe M told me that there's a mod for the low end response? Or expanding the freq response. Can't remember.

What are the other mods that can be done for AWA Big-1A??
