recording mandolin

Hi all, new to the forum, going to record some Mandolin and would like some tips on mic placement, eq and anything else you can think of that will help get a good sound. Thanks.

I usually use a high pass filter on the pre (or mic if it has one} and mic with a small diaphram condenser 7 to 12 inches away from where the neck joins the soundboard with the mic pointing to the soundboard where it sounds best.

Thanks for the tip Chris. I have a Rode nt2a, it has a switch between 40 and 80, I'll try both positions and see which one
sounds best.
