I don't know what the fuss is about goldbaby samples. they make a lot of noise about going for tape saturation, but in the example kits they put up for free download, it sounds like preamp distortion to me.
the first revision linndrum was pretty rare...... 500 made, apparently - and most went to big name artists and studios. You're a lot more likely to get your hands on LM-2 samples. but then again, who knows what some of the crazy gear people on here have in their cupboards... :-)

The 808 kit is pretty darn good when it's good but I don't like the archiving because you have to wade through every sample instead of the ones that are actually useable. Pretty much all the tape sat samples are unuseable and that goes for the 909 set which I bought too. My advice would be to find someone who has an LM-1, sync it up properly, program it and Bob's your uncle ;-)

Did someone say LinnDrum ;] ... oh.. LM-1 ;[
Man I love the swing on the Linndrum... those hihats... ahhhhhhh... that snare.... ahhhhhh...
I know at least one person who owns a LM-1.. And I think he went to great pains to sample it well.. (High quality converters ra ra ra)
I'll see if I can chase em up.
Regards
Mike

woohoo mike!
go, you good thing!!
:-)
years ago I bought a CD called the LinnDrum alternate sounds library, off some guy on ebay.... I think it was just recorded off an old linndrum demo/sales tape or something. Actually got a bit of good use out of it, layering some of the samples with an 808. not bad for $10.

well.. you know what the LM-1 sounds like on a record.....
:-)
speaking of samples - I figured I may as well share what I got, too. even though its not an LM-1.
So I dug out the old CD and zipped the wav directory. As far as I know, it's meant to be all the optional factory sounds for the linndrum.

One thing - I would prefer that if anyone here wants to spread them about, don't use my bandwidth (ie, host it somewhere else!) also note it's in a temp directory, so presence there in the future is not guaranteed.

Actually I could be wrong about this I'm starting to recall some of the tape sat kick drums sounding pretty good so I'll have to check but definitely not the cymbals or hats.
