Quantegy 499

Postby waitup » Sat Oct 03, 2009 7:17 pm

Just a quick question for the older (look, now I've offended people in the first sentence) folks around the trap regarding Quantegy 499.

I've got a whole stack that when I bought my machine, some of it has a red label, some of it has a blue label.

I was wondering if anyone can remember if there is a different between the red and the blue... was one possibly manufactured first?

Thanks guys,

Nick.

from memory, blue first then red.

you don't have to worry about 499 shedding - that only affected batches of 456. 499 is pretty much the same as GP9, a machine set up for one can do either.

Yeah the red boxed to look a little newer now that you mention it. That is good news about the shedding, otherwise I have a lot of tape headed for landfill hehe.

From memory the labelling changed to red in 1999 or thereabouts. The date codes on the spine will tell you anyway.

98271 reads as 271st day of 1998. The year becomes 4 digits in the noughties.
