I love the wooden slatty things hanging on the wall in the tracking room, are they old pallets? Tres creative.
Do you find having your guitars out and hanging like that all the time affects the strings life? I've often wondered.

I like having my guitars out of the case to let them resonate to the room sounds. I think it does them good to let them breathe.

Yeah thanks Rick we used a lot of your suggestions and did a lot more research also on room sizes etc. The live room is definitely awesome sounding and anything you stick a mic in
front of in there sounds great. We have also done a lot of re-amping into the room to capture the room and it's killer!
The U47's were a bonus that came along at the right time, a lot of the gear is a collective effort between us and a few other engineers who are using the room and the gear list keeps growing and growing
and each time I update the list it needs changing! Some more nice toys are off at the doctors at the moment getting looked over or serviced etc including a bunch more Neumanns, Neve summing console, 33609 etc.
Can't wait to get them in and working also.

Chinagraf - the wooden slats are "garden screens" that Damien found at an online auction. We have added a timber frame to the back with plastic membrane and insulation covered in black acoustic cloth and then the screen on top..
The room sounded good without them but great with them! We have got a few more small ones to go up in the live room but we are too busy with studio work at the moment :)

Haven't noticed any difference in strings with guitars hanging up.. we also have the retail shop with guitars on racks and we usually change the strings on a sale anyway. Same with the studio, all the instruments are free to use for the sessions, however if they want "new" or specific strings or drum heads etc they can supply their own as required. The temp is pretty constant in the studio so tuning isn't a worry either.

Mylesgm - Hallam is as far away to you as you are to us :).. hey it's only 35 mins off peak from Melb CBD on the freeway!! It takes me longer to drive from Richmond to South Melb!!.. :) plus no parking hassles!!

I should also mention "Freelance" rates are available and we have a few engineers working here as well.

something that has always puzzled me about studios with guitars hanging in the recording or control room is the effect they have on sound. This was confirmed for me last week as I was putting the finishing touches on my listening room when I brought my old battered acoustic guitar in to the room from the corner in my bedroom where it has lived for the last 10 years. Straight away i could hear it singing and ringing to itself in response to music playback...so back to the bedroom it went where it can sing all it wants. Maybe all those resonances from guitars strung up by their necks is a good thing? In my room it wasn't.

To the lads at Pony your studios are looking fantastic and big ups to you guys for the balls to pull this off against the tide of mediocrity.

and it is nice to see a proportional compliment of Pro Harmonic gear in the rack!!

rick your idea of a "show off your studio" section is a nice idea. Need a separate section I reckon and lets see the wonderful range of facilities that we all use for making music from the humble but effective bedroom setup to the Ponys of this country. I'd be happy to post up some photos of my shed! Get the web boys onto it!

well we started off really small (as Rick knows) and grew from there over the years..

As for photo hosting - there are a heap of free photo hosting sites on the net you can upload
photos to. Or I presume most studios/engineers have their own websites/myspace/facebook etc you can
upload to and just copy and paste the code as I have done above.. no extra cost to this site etc. Not sure how
that works with bandwidth though as it is pulling it from different servers. I know we had major issues with bandwidth
on the Melband site over the years as the site grew.

It would be great to see other users studios, gear etc also. Always love looking at studio/gear PrOn..
