hey guys,
anyone got a spare 1 or 2 of these lying around that they can off load to me? I know that its not an overly profitable experience for ya but I could really use one and thought I'd try here before hitting the bay etc
thanks
Matt

...thanks rick... very helpful.
Im just getting my otari up and running so can practice recording to tape. When I'm starting to get it down I'll upgrade.
Unless you know anyone selling ampex 8 track for under $1K ;)

If you can't get Otari replacement bands take it to a vacuum cleaner/vcr/washing machine repair shop, they have heaps of different rubber bands in all sorts of sizes. You might get lucky and it'll be dirt cheap.

Hi, these are the NAB hub adaptors, yes? If you've not had luck so far maybe try Daniel at Dex. When there, ask to see his personal tape machine museum. Maybe the Lyrec 1/4" he's had for sale in the showroom for 11+yrs is still there with the Ampex 3 track..

Wow I didn't realise they ever sold anything. Once they get it, they keep it I thought.

Well the Lyrec (not the Ampex) was one of the few machines for sale. He also serviced and sold a valve C37 (to Soundpark studios, from memory, though not aware if it's still there). Also U47 mods. The valve mic pre's (which can handle +30 line level) are actually worth a look/listen.
