FS: vintage eq's, Neumann, Telefunken, Lawo.

For sale: German eq modules, these modules are around 25 years old, some NOS. Most come with schematics and can be easilly racked by an experienced electronics engineer. I had some racked by Rob Squire and he did a great job, cost of racking these modules was generally around $400 - $600 in the past depending on the job, you would have to contact him.

These eq's are from vintage broadcast and mastering consoles, they have stepped controls (except Telefunken IPS F2000) and are very high quality units built to German broadcast specifications. They excel on drums, they are very punchy in the low end and have very detailed mids and highs.

All unracked units have not been tested by me so they are sold as is, though they should be in perfect working order.

For less than the price of 1 x 500 series eq you can get a pair of these excellent little eq's.

2 x ANT W696b eq modules unracked, $800. These are hard to find and are NOS, sound is superb es[pecially on drums. Check the shine on the side of them, never been used and are around 25 years old. On hold pending sale.




1 x stereo Neumann W495stb eq module unracked. $700 On hold pending sale



2 x Telefunken IPS F2000 eq modules unracked. $900. Controls are continuous unstepped. SOLD.

True the chase is always good, though honestly I just can't see myself doing this much longer, was good when I played but now I just don't play anymore.

All this gear I'm just asking for about what it owes me. Plus i'll have a bunch of other high end stuff for sale soon too.

Thinking of buying a 4WD and some better fishing gear and doing a few trips away.

Well not too sure yet if I wanna sell the Apogee Rosettas, Avalon AD2055, API 2500, Pendulum Es8 or Smart C2 or Blue Kiwi or Telefunken V676b pre's or ANT W695b's , I think there's other stuff too. Still not sure on this yet, but probably will sell it all.

Oh and the carpet is staying. :)

Hi Richard, in all honesty, these are mastering quality eq's though for modern mastering purposes are probably going to really only work some of the time. i mean they have a great sound but they have stepped gain increments of 2 or 3db like API 500 series eq's, which might be a bit much for the fine detail you'll need in a mastering eq. The IPS F2000 are continuous and probably not that accurate for mastering.

For mixing drums though they rock, sound great on other stuff too. As to your original question I'd say neither, save up for something with stepped 1/2 or 1 db increments, which is guaranteed to be expensive. :) It would serve you better.

If you still want something though interstate shipping is no problem, though another Turtlerocker has dibs on the ANT.

Hey Dale, yeah they are marked as 22db, hav'nt had them racked so I don';t know personally, though they are meant to be great eq's, I was going to use them for vox and stuff, so whoever buys them can let us all know. :)

I believe the Neumann W495STB is a mastering eq.
I had a pair once (4 x channels).
Very good, albeit a bit clean, but then clean is probably good.
Anyway, really great value eq's that are pretty powerful.

Yeah definitely a mastering eq, from a neumann lathe I think. I read somewhere these are exactly the same ones used on Pink Floyds Dark side of the moon. They come up now and again on ebay at roughly the same price.

Hav'nt used the W495stb but have used some of the other modules I have and they are all very similar, Neumanns being the cleanest though, the ANT's do have a sound, similar to SSL but smoother and sweeter to me but really punchy in the low end very nice 40hz, I'm keeping 1 NOS pair I already have racked for the time being.

They are some of the best value eq's I know of. I like them heaps better than API's.

Yeah I reckon, let's hit Rick up about it. I bet he's been doing some fishing, I wonder if he's caught a decent Jewie on the boat yet. Got my first a few weeks back, only a schoolie but geez it tasted great.

Have you caught anything decent lately Chris? I want to catch some mud crabs, I've seen some beauties around North Harbour (never knew they were there until recently), did'nt have a net and was too chicken to pick em up with my good hand, just in case, if I bugger my good hand I'm screwed. :)

I get to see and do some cool things in my 9-5, and as a bonus it is somewhat audio related too. My last "job" was aboard an 11m Voyager Super Cat off the Capricorn Coast, QLD. We were out hunting GT's, and whatever else we could find too. First day of fishing was great, pulled up a couple Estuary Cods, some big red things (pictured), and a dozen reef fish for dinner, as well as some fish that was good for Sashimi. There was nothing quite like bringing in a fish, slicing it up, adding a little wasabi and soy sauce and eating it there and then. The crumbed and lightly pan fried reef fish were absolutely amazing too.

When I did find time to fish myself, I only managed to snare a catfish. Put up a hell of a fight though. Oh, we caught a Bronze Whaler too, damn that thing was strong. Obviously cut the line for that one.

I have been too busy to go out much. The total is four snapper averaging 3 to 4 kilo, a few, small by NSW standards, flathead and one gummy shark around 8 kilo so not exactly prolific for me.
