VST -> RTAS wrapper

Postby Futureman » Sat Jan 02, 2010 5:23 pm

Ok, I'm using a now ancient 001 interface for Tools. (6.4) for my PC.

I'm looking at getting a synclock for my old gear (Drum machines etc) and it uses a VST plugin.. so I needs a wrapper.

Does anyone have experience with these, any good free ones?

Regards

There's a wrapper made by audiease and it works almost flawlessly on the mac, no idea about the pc. When I saw almost flawlessly I mean that some of the pulgins don't have their 'cool' GUI's anymore but still pass and process signal.

does protools let you sequence audio snippets? (I assume so!)

if worst comes to worst with the VST, you can also do it this way.. just sequence a bar of the basic sync sample @ 24ppqn (ie 3 to a 32nd = 32nd triplets) then you can load this into your project and copy/paste/etc. We had that working in ableton live here, when peregrin bought his sync lock over for a spin. ...but the swing control on the VSTi is a really nice touch!

Think the Audioease wrapper is only VST->MAS (Digital Performer)?

FXPansion have a VST->RTAS plugin but I've found it unreliable with certain VST plugs.

Not sure if a wrapper was made for PT6.4 which means you might need to upgrade to use the plug or choose another DAW - honestly think there are better options on PC these days.

ok yes FXPansion did make a wrapper for PT6.4 and turns out you can still download it if you buy a license for v2

actually you're right the wrapper was an FXpansion program not audioEase but I've had little trouble with it.
