Chandler - Germanium preamp / DI

Hopefully I'll be getting this pre early this week, so as soon as I plug this baby in I'll let you know how it sounds. I aready have a Chander TG2 and a couple of LTD-1 so the Germanium should be a good addition to my rack.

I have an LTD-1 its my fav pre and eq

how much did you pay for the DI?

just read an old issue of AudioTechnology (no.25) were Brian Gibson from chandler says "electronically its all fairly standard stuff, though there are some germanium transistors that are no longer available. I've done side by side tests with a replacement silicone transistor, and nobody seems to be able to hear any difference..." hmmm

Maybe the germanium aspect is just marketing? which doesn't mean that it won't sound great.

I now have the Germanium and it doesn't sound like the TG2 or the LTD-1. I t does have that old warm sound but not as dark as the TG2.
