......the old price discrepency though compared with US. At Mercenary the list price is quoted as $1295, and they sell them at $1250.
1,295.00 USD = 1,395.62 AUD
The TK is made by the same crew that's behind the Vintage Design gear from Sweeden. I'll definitley give one a listen when they arrive at A Wave as i don't have an ssl type comp.

Isn't the Australian distributor exempt from that?
And it would be purchased direct from the manufacturer at a lesser than $US1295 RRP and not a store like Mercenary.

i hate to editorialise randomly on someone else's thread, and this is NOT directed at any particular individual, but....
could we all try and be a little bit more like mark (who almost always comments from actual experience) and a little bit less like gearslutz and keep comments to FIRST HAND experiences as much as possible?
i try and be pretty relaxed about most things but whenever i read "i've heard that...." or "i've read a heap of comments...." or "the XYZ comp is supposed to be awesome" it does my head in a bit.
this forum is pretty special and i'd just hate to see it turn into a mini-GS. if you find yourself typing something like the above, maybe stop and think is this really useful or am i just adding to the noise?
rant over, continue...

I hate G-Slutz and they deserve the stupid name they've given themselves. I do frequent it for the aussie forum and for the secondhand classifieds the rest is generally rubbish and what is good is so few far and in-between its just not worth it. We certainly don't need to replicate it here.

What the hell happened here?!
Ruined a thread on what was something I was quite interested in hearing more about.
I do get what you mean though, which is why I specifically asked if anyone had tried it yet.
BTW - you could have started a new thread on the topic instead of bringing the rant here...

yes, i could've... sorry! i did apologise in advance!
hey angus, relax dude... i made it clear i was not having a go at you specifically - we all do it, i've done it - i just chose that moment to say something about it. i just think we should all try and do it less!
by all means, do your research and take advice from people who have first hand experience wherever they are (even on gearslutz)... what i am saying is that when someone asks for an opinion, i question the vale of simply repeating someone elses.

well i heard the GS / mercenary link against other comps many times the price
it certainly had a better compression sound than the C2
so even on my macbook speakers i knew i needed one.
so i spoke to lou about bringing in, as a result he is now, so i placed an order and
should have in about 2 weeks
its half the price of the rolls
and also has wet / dry and a HP filter SC
BTW the wet dry function of comps is awesome for those who dont have parallel facilities.
when i demoed the audient zen with its SSL style mix comp with wet and dry
the actual comp was a bit to jittery for my liking
however with some serious pumping added back into the dry signal i was able to get some extra groove that really enhanced the sound.
i reckon that coupled with 33609 should do the trick nicely
