audix 35102.... and 35302 racking???

Postby harry » Wed May 24, 2006 10:16 pm

hello guys,

does anybody have experience racking these?

i recently went halves on a pair of audix 35102 v03's off ebay and they came with an audix 35302 'quad amp' module (the input? trannys were gone though)

do i need this to make the modules work properly (i hear some versions have an output stage that clips easily).... if it is better to use this module with them i might be convinced to keep them as a pair and give em over to my mate or 'share' em.....

apart from that im assuming the easiest way to rack em are jlm power, di and phantom boards..... anyone done this before?

what caps (brand) would u use to recap... (jaycar caps) or something specific (nichicon or something)

thanks guys

think i might go play with my mackie 8 bus now....

Ohhh Shut Up Harry ...

actually ... go to the gamoots before you start racking them ... go-ran will be doing mine soon as i get that awful gain switch

Does anybody know where I can find one of those damn things ... prefer not to pay for Elma gold plated cheezles :)

see my website for a bunch of these racked up
http://www.proharmonic.com/old.htm

caps - multicomp through Farnell are good for axials

there is no output level control- you might want one of these. Also the output stage won't drive much of a load and is unbalanced. Those other cards might be a source of output drivers or you can mod the card.

details of this also on my site

hey Rob thanks for your reply.

i have seen that rack of audix you did for pnau?

i opened up the units and had a look around..... they look pretty busy... wouldnt like to accidentally break one of those wires in there.

i think ill put these on the backburner for the next month or few...
i might be in contact with you about recapping and racking these..... depending on how brave i feel at the time....although it looks kinda straightforward. 35102 into 35302 and add the output gain pot.

im assuming any 1:1 or 1:2 output tranny will do the job (dont know if i need a gapped core one for this.... dont think there will be any serious dc offset...)

anyway.... thanks for making all that info on them available the schematics are invaluable.

p.s tonymite...... c u soon mate
