Guilt is objective
- ripping off a ripoff is (imo) fair game
- ripping off a friend, peer or innocent is morally questionable

Corporates, Governments, lawyers, real estate and used car salesmen fit into the former ;-)

This is not just beer - this is James Squire Golden Ale. That's the beer equivalent of Neve as far as I'm concerned.

I drink my Dad's home brew. It's tasty & it's free. I think it's appropriate that this discussion has turned to beer - it's what you do when you move on. All the best Rick. Thanks for sharing your thoughts in print over the years.

Indeed! I was also rather bummed when I flipped to the last page of AT this month and noticed your words weren't there. Perhaps it is motivating the drinking habit. ;)

Best of luck with whatever comes next, Rick!

Eeep. And sorry for the thread hijacking. While I'll do anything to lighten the mood, I didn't really mean to drag this thread so off topic!

Burleigh Brewery do a great Hef - comes with a Mo so perfect drinking for November.

Brisbane has a German club - with all things Bavarian on tap and giant slabs of artery choking pork in the kitchen, really worth a visit if you're ever in town.

Wonder if there's some distinctly Australian sociology at play here - we start to mention words like integrity and character and the next thing we talk about is beer....

Just had to mention two articles that I always get a chuckle out of from the many of Ricks that i've read and enjoyed.

- Tony Turkey
- and 'that big American sound'

Please let us know if and where you next prose will be available to read.

I was recently in Vietnam and we found this microbrewery on the beach that had a Witbier, which I've never been a fan of, but this one tasted like Creamy Soda and went down just as easily. We ended up hammered and had to walk home in 40 degree heat with 90% humidity, and that was just my armpits.

Coopers vintage is the real deal,....the Optro of beers for sure.......5 years in the making for each batch. Neve pertains to pommy beers! Where is your (healthy) nationalism?
When not having the vintage though, the Coopers Dark Ale is my next choice, and "MD" Chris makes a very fine home brew that's up there with the best of the best!

its time he turned up in my life again with the same old tunes :)

Speaking of Rick's articles, here's one I like (and which you can't get to from the articles page cause the hyperlink is wrong, but I figured it out).

I was drawn to it by the title "Old School Desks".
http://www.turtlerockmastering.com/at_i27.html

FWIW - the title is technically *not* misleading.

could that be the same tony turkey that I'm about to go visit and kick around his console?

as someone with the born rights to the name James Squire ( James is my middle name, Squire is my surname ) be careful what you say about the beer. As a born and bred South Australian there is an obligation to raise the flag for Coopers.
As someone who doesn't drink ... I don't give a toss.

Looks like Rick and I are on the same wagon ... in more ways than one ....

Sad to hear that all is not well at AT. I've enjoyed the mag over the last few years, and even though more of the commercial side was creeping in, I still rated it a cut above the rest. Two big reasons were articles by Rick and Rob. So much thanks for all the insightful words over many many issues.

Btw I'm still trying to earn a Parametric Licence, not quite there yet!

I was still enjoying reading AT. I thought they were doing interesting articles on various recordings etc and they were able to get interviews with a quite a few who are top of their game. It's sad to see things are going south there but Rick and co have my full support.

christ manning , i have been doing those things for 15 + years about once a month or so

every now and then i try to get somebody to scan them up onto the site but after about 30 articles into it they quit !
so i have no idea what is hidden in my site ! i could not pay mark enough to do any more of them !
the site is hidden full of cool stuff just for fun dont give away all the links ;)

so anybody that wants to go through their audio tech mags and pdf every article of mine
can have a free forum tshirt or three
and when i get the new site up bask in the glory of the of a job well done for all to read

i own all of the articles audio tech and the previous mags dont , we have been talking about a book for years with those guys
but i never felt like i wanted to let them make any extra money off me and my skills outside the mag ..now i am out for good ...
well i might just make that book anyway - or put it up online or whatever
i dunno

Just got them lee you didnt have to do that
I was kinda joking
But what the hell i reckon between the lot of us
We can probably get them all together and without
Sounding like a total dick , i will try to put them all in the one place
At some point in the future for us all to read

I have the book thing in my head again too
And now there are no integrity issues holding me back
I just might get to it
Well actually there are bunch of other things i have to
Get sorted first so dont hold your breath
... Its been a hell year
