This is a rocking thread- Feist, Brian Blade and Nels Cline!
I saw Feist in Melbourne about 2 weeks ago. Killer show, the band sounds fantastic live. She's got a really great live guitar sound going on aswell, and a really great drummer.
I really like the idea of Black Dub (Blade!) but never heard anything of theirs that really blew me away. Any recommendations for tracks? Awesome bass sound on that track.

Rick - 100% agree on Carla Werner
Ive worked on all of her albums (was supposed to mix this EP too but was too busy)
She is an awesome talent and a special lovely person (and a total spunk!)
And what huge voice! (ever heard Ghost Road? - WOW - she nearly blew the top off the microphone!!)
Really has her act together bigtime - builds/manages her own websites with e commerce - works so incredibly hard and is a totally focused artist.
I wish she would get the recognition she deserves....
Her time will come, cause she aint goin away, she will only become a more potent powerful entity.

Any of you guys heard St Vincent?
Now she is killer - plays nearly all the instruments herself - does all the arrangements. Huge talent!
All of her albums are astonishing - from beginning to end - no filler at all!

chris you probably were never told but carla and I go way back
I put her in the studio for the first time so long ago , looking at her today it seems impossible
but I spent two years of my time and expense teaching her words like neumann and neve
we split citing musical differences ... long before she started releasing records , we haven't actually spoken in maybe 16 years ! longer if i think about it .. but i am well aware of all the stuff you have done and she has done .

She is the original 100% sweetheart , beesknees singer and still a total spunk in my books too .. she has to make the list .. hell lets put her on top !

Can't help feeling that taylor swift clip would be so much 'better' (whatever I mean by that) if it was less 'produced' in every way, allowed to breath, allowed to shape. If it felt like a bunch of people making music they lived and cared about. I'm sure they do care but it seems like the process has taken all the realness out of the equation and that's a shame.

I can think of a number of lovely ladies who have passed through my studios who for a variety of reasons have moved into other peoples studios. It's rather bittersweet to see them succeed knowing what part you played in that development... Certainly doesn't stop me starting all over again.

oh look its theatre made for my 4 year old girl and her friends , she watches the videos and tells me the stories what taylor is doing , what she is wearing , why she is crying or smiling .. its overproduced over the top 4 min long music theatre videos
underneath all that is a young woman who writes all those tunes makes an gigantic pile of money and is the consument entertainer to her audience ...

.. later in life when she doesnt look like the original white filly
i am sure she will get pared back to just the music , or retire and buy the state of texas or minsota or where ever she came from
