spring (well winter) cleaning

just spent the weekend (cause there wasnt a booking in) with all the regular engineers/ assistants at gigpiglet, totally stripping the rooms out. dusting, cleaning, painting, taping, zip tieing and the repatching the place.
we have been booked pretty solidly for the last year since we re-launched after a major renovation.
i assure you the amount of mess and dust and general "that could be done better" was pretty amazing. (and we are day to day a pretty neat and tidy place!)

do you guys do a full reset every now and then?
how often?
what do you discover - does it improve workflow and so on?

yeah absolutely essential, even if it's only for the psychological benefit.

I've almost finished the annual cleanup of the Pro Harmonic workshop and shed. This takes me about a week. Yes, there is an unbelievable amount of dust that collects in the corners and recesses of the workshop. I created a mini dust storm when I took the shop PC outside and hit it with the aircompressor. The shed usually yields a trailer of scrap audio electronics.
It makes me feel better about my life, at least for a couple of days, after I complete the cleanup and I always find something interesting that I'd forgotten about.

I'm so glad to hear I'm not alone in this.... but it's much easier since I painted the floor / replaced carpet tiles with rugs and put everything on casters

It's a great way to purge any unused gear and get rid of the trip hazards too.

I end up doing this a couple of times a year... Always amazes me what i can pull out of the setup..

Also, its nice walking in the next day to a uber tidy area... 8)
