These are excellent racks.

If you're going to use it inside the control room, remove the side panels or glue some Wavebar / Acoustiflex to them to stop them from ringing, rattling and reflecting.

The best thing is they've got the rack hardware front and back.

On one installation I did for video company, back in the Jurassic period, we had 16mm Melamine shelves cut and edged to fit neatly between the rack strips, then put two 50mm rack screws front and back to support the shelves. The shelves were put in to individually support about a dozen VHS recorders.

Thanks Greg!

I actually bought this from Alistair at 2UE a few months back, but have now realised it is surplus to my needs.

It is exactly as you've described.

Also, I've just edited the original post, Zoom 1204 is gone.

Hi, can you tell me more about the PKE O.B. mixer? Is it mono only, does it have line inputs and does it have direct outs?
Cheers,

Hi Paul,

The PKE is basically a 6 into 1 mic/line mixer.
I am fairly certain that each input has a mic/line switch, let me confirm tonight and I'll send a photo of the back
It has a HPF and comp on each channel.

Opening it up reveals a bunch of transformers and other decencies.

It doesn't have direct outs but could be modded to do so.

I'll post up a photo of the back of it tonight.

Hi Paul, I've got spare manuals for the OB-6 if you want one.just PM me a postal address and I'll stick one in the mail.
They run off 12 volts, battery or adapter. Channel 1 is mic/line switchable, all transformer inputs and transformer output. They can run pretty Hot on the output.OVU is +8dBm.pretty clean and very reliable australian made broadcast gear.

Hi, I got the PKE today, looks like I need to fire up the soldering iron! Broken mic/line selector switches, one dead channel and humming like a...hummingbird.
Oh well, it does sort of work and the AGC is very effective!

Hi Paul,

No worries at all, best of luck with that!
That's the main reason I'm selling these guys so cheaply, they need some love!
If you get the chance, I was always interested in trying to take some direct outs from each channel.
Maybe unbalanced however? I never had a chance to look into it!

Hi Peat, the general sound of it is quite nice, a bit agricultural but solid and robust. I thought of re purposing the headphone outs as direct out's, but I don't think a direct out of the pre will be happy driving line level.
I will clean it up and use it as designed, as a portable, bomb proof, unclippable set of O.B. mic inputs.
I was hoping to use it next week for our Cup Day Kaos O.B. for announcer mic ins, but probably wont have time to de bug it. Our broadcast tech got all nostalgic when he saw the "Order Wire" input and switching.....
