Ok so you think finding neve consoles is tricky ..?
Hi Rick,
hope all's well.
I've been contacted by the QLD museum about putting a Saints exhibition together.
Consequently I'm trying to locate the BWE ( Bruce Window Electronics) console which was designed & built by the late Bruce Window. Leon Prescott bought the studio and sold the desk "to some guy in Hobart" , so it's likely still in Tassie .
Only pic I can find is courtesy of Neil Packer (BWE technician and later co-designer of MTE consoles) who's pictured at the desk.
It was a split design with ( from memory) 32 inputs on the left and a dedicated 16 channel monitor section on the right . It had Duncan faders and fader knobs, and the bussing matrix was a rectangular array of 16 multi coloured illuminating switches on each input channel.
Any direction or help in putting the word out would be greatly appreciated.
cheers,
MM

Timeline
Console was last seen in the 90s I think
But if it went to hobart
I highly doubt it would have ever been worth the
Freight out of there
So it's either in somebodies shed , in use or long since tipped
But maybe just maybe some here knows some there
That has seen it
I dunno when the exhibition will be or any more then
Mark moffit wrote me from Nashville
Still could be amusing if we track it down

Crikey, a vintage Neve desk in Tassie!
Not many decent setups in the state as it is let alone a piece of gear of that calibre. If it was currently in use people would surely know about it.
Nearly anything remotely decent like that was from the ABC studios, but that's all been dissolved now as far as I know.
If it is in a shed that would be a darn shame, if it was tipped... well...
Still I'd be surprised if it were still here, probably long gone - but you never know what could be lurking in a storage shed somewhere... Treasure hunt anyone?

Wasn't Bruce Window one of the guys who worked at Parkes? I'll ask around too...

It may be worth contacting Murray Keidge at CPC Productions in QLD. https://www.cpcproductions.com/
He has a couple of BWE consoles and had quite a long friendship with Bruce I believe, I think Bruce's daughter works or worked for Murray and when Bruce passed away a lot of his gear ended up at CPC (Murray is an avid vintage collector)
If anyone can shed light on the topic I bet he can.

So THAT'S why the chorus to No Time sounds the way it does. I had always wondered.
