The 1176 with the most mojo and the most noise is the blue stripe.

Hey Richard yes I saw them! Interesting to see that local.. one seller feedback from just a few days ago, but they know how to word and list things effectively so.. I'm a little cautious (have had a few average dealings with sydney peeps before too).. just a considerations.. price is nice though. I wish they'd just list it here or on gearslutz instead (interesting that it hasn't popped up there)

Mark! No doubt, but I ain't spending 10k just on two measly 1176s, unless you know where to get blue stripes for half that!? I've also heard many people say Ref Fs are by far their favourite... who knows :)

Hi Ian! haha no lottery here unfortunately, this isn't today's shopping list, just a bunch of stuff I aim to get as it becomes available at the right time

I'm not terribly familiar with the manley stuff, I figured that list is enough to work on for now. I'm also really happy with the tonal range I'm covering with that and what I've already got. So I haven't yet desired to add a bunch more. Have you used the Retro stuff? Potentially it covers some similar ground? whatever that means.. :-\

I haven't used Retro but heard good reports from some others here - their tube eq is on my short list but it would be nice to compare one with the Manley equivalent. fyi your list is pretty much my list too :-)

A unit that really interests me is the new Gyraf Infandibulum - it's at the top of my "desired units" list atm.

oh yeah I remember seeing that thing! Looks like one awesome beast

I have the retro EQ, and the STA. The tone of those two things tickles my fancy like none other :x I looked at a second 2A3 (had some pultec EQH-2s, didn't even come close) but two powerstrips gives that and more. If you're ever in Melbourne you're more than welcome to pop by and give it a run yourself. Between four channels of Retro EQ and the API, 4x chandler TG, console, I don't think gear is the limitation .. so Manley, retro, Gyraf, Pultec, they're all great and I'm not greedy! Honestly I'm sick of chasing gear, I just want to get on with making great music now (still need that list satisfied though! ha)
