Contact number for Ben Sneesby

Postby stosostu » Mon Dec 09, 2013 5:17 pm

Does anyone have a contact number for Ben Sneesby, I can't find one on his site and I have had no reply to emails. I would like him to to have a look at a Sony C-48 mic that I think may need the capsule re-skinned. Does he still do repair work?

That probably explains why I am not getting replies to my emails.

Yes, it is the one that was on eBay a while ago. I have managed to sort out the electronics which had been 'messed with'. It needed re-wiring back to the original circuit, which is, fortunately, available from the net, and a replacement 2SK23A, and it now works. But, one side of the diaphram is louder and clearer than the other. I can't see any damage but it really needs to be looked at by someone who knows what they are looking for, I have been told that the capsule may need re-skinning and that Ben is the guy to talk to about this. However, I am aware that Ben has bigger issues in the US than my old microphone, so I guess I will wait until he is back in Oz.

When I needed a pair of AKG C12B's looked at I rang Ben, without even looking at them he told me I'd need to reskin both of the original CK12 capsules due to the age of them. Not satisfied by this blind assessment I sent them to Rob Squire who gave them a thorough going over, replaced some caps, cleaned the capsules and they turned out great, no reskinning needed. I'd recommend you try Rob, if he can't help I'm sure he'll be able to recommend someone else who'd be top caliber.

Finally got around to having Rob Squire take a look at my Sony C-48 and he did a magnificent job. It sound much clearer, puts out about 6dB more signal and the two sides are more balanced in figure 8.

Thanks Rob, it was a pleasure meeting you and doing business. :)
