Working standing up

I am endeavouring to change my work system so that I stay on my feet and work for the most part standing up. Not just in the studio but in the office as well but I'm having trouble finding desks that are high enough other than tilting drafting tables. Does anyone here work this way? Time to get rid of this stupid Aeron and find some tall benches... Any ideas appreciated.

Funny, h hadn't really thought about it till this thread but I often work standing up if I'm using an analogue console, tracking and mixing, and nearly always if i'm using tape. Not as often when working on the computer.

get some alumininium brackets from bunnings, and some H frames, and bolt together a bench top to the legs....thats if you're handy....
i dont see you being able to find something to the height you'd like...in a store. at the right price that is.

i LOVE mixing standing up!
dont do it so much in the studio.. though i do walk around/ stand up a lot while listening
but live - I've never ever been able to sit down and mix

First up I'd make sure that the flooring has some padding - standing for extended periods is a great way to get very sore ankles - esp. on concrete or hardwood floors.....

Gibraltar drum racks can be assembled to make stands / tables at whatever height you need.

My home studio is now chairless. Don't even bother trying to find pre-built standing height desks, they don't exist.

I built my own desk using Bunnings 4x2 and Yellowtongue flooring, with a sheet of thin laminated MDF as a surface. Cost less that $100 (but no, it won't get featured in Better Homes and Studios anytime soon).

I have a thin carpet sitting on rubber tiles for the comfort/knees/back/ankles factor. My piano is also at standing height. I also find that my guitar playing is significantly better when standing.

If you had the time, tools and skill it would not be too hard to create something more cosmetically pleasing.

The abc have really cool desks inside their studios for the radio presenters . They are electronic so you can control how high you want it. Some people like to stand while others like to sit.

Measure a few. You'll find that they were definitely higher in those days. I think it's purely that when you're doing a big session straight onto 4-track, it's not something you could do sitting down. It wasn't a leisurely process. You would definitely be on the balls of your feet at all times whilst recording. Not sitting back in a comfy armchair."
