AKG D12 VR.

Anyone have thoughts on them?

My first thought, Doesn't sound too much like a D12 original. but that could be comparing an old mic that has aged components and then going on my memory of a few years ago,

Second thoughts were ....... Damn. that sounds SENSATIONAL! Really bloody good. maybe I should get one.

Has anyone tried them? what are the thoughts on them at the moment?

is it possibly the biggest something special to happen kick drums mics since I don't know...... the first d12.

Or does it just sound different to what we have already heard?

I have an original D12, but I think it might be on it's last legs...always seems to record with a bit of a ring! Spoke to AKG at ENTECH about demoing one...I think on this recommendation that should be soon!

I've just finished 3 days tracking drums with the VR. Sounds nothing like a vintage D12. But it does sound really really good. I'm happy. I'm buying one so I can stay happy.
