Plugins.. suggestions or comments please

Postby TimS » Thu Jun 28, 2007 12:34 pm

I have recently completed my Pro Tools 110 course and Digidesign have given all students a plugin of their choice free. Pretty much free reign of most plugs they sell/distribute from their website - however, you can only choose 1..
I have been looking at reverbs lately and am just wondering if there is any really nice reverbs that you guys use that you regard of pretty highly.
DVerb doesnt really do it for me, so am looking at something a little more up market..
TL Space Native is the only LE option (all the others are TDM only)

Does anyone have other suggestions for other good/great plugins?
Would be interested to hear your thoughts.

When you say 1, i take it you mean a single plugin and not a bundle.
If it's a reverb you are after - i'd get the Altiverb 6.

I tend too use a lot of the plugins that came with my 002 and the toolkit,
but other bundles i've picked up / use at other studios are:

AudioEase Altiverb
TL Space (Came with Toolkit)

McDSP:
•Analog Channel
•CompressorBank
•FilterBank

Focusrite d2/d3 Bundle
SSL 4000 Bundle

TL Space is a good deal, but like BC said if you get Toolkit it includes TL Space (great bundle you should get it).
If I only had one choice get McDSP Channel "G". You get SSL dynamics, EQ, console. Even if TDM it will work as RTAS, I use mine on my Le and TDM rig. If you don't like you can sell it on eBay or Gearslutz as it is very sought after in USA.

$995? What plugins go for around that price? Seems like a good way to extract maximum $ value from the course.

You bet!!! Excellent value for money there, I reckon..

I'm seriously considering Wave Arts Power Suite 5 - looks pretty darn good to me - has channel strip, master reverb, peak limiter/volume maximiser, multiband dynamics, and 3-D acoustics binaural spatial processor..
You can download demo's from the website.. and they also have some cool QT videos too..
Worth checking out I say..
