Integrate Trade Show 2014

Postby TAFKAT » Wed Aug 27, 2014 8:54 am

A quick heads up for those thinking of popping in for a look see.

I flew up for the day with a few industry friends expecting a mixture of Audio/Music Technology, MI, Live Sound, Video Production , Broadcast, etc, which we were under the impression is what the show was about ( I admit I hadn't been paying too much attention the last few years since it inception).

The show is now 99% corporate sound/video installation , no music/audio tech, a tiny bit of live sound , we did a quick lap , looked at each other with a collective WTF look , headed back to the airport for 5 hours to wait for the flight home. The bar did some good business.

Did I miss the memo or am I totally confused about what the Integrate show was originally about ?

Yes I got the cold call too. The guy was obviously from a marketing company and knew nothing about the content. Rather counter-productictive if you ask me.
Nothing to interest me any more - all AV, lighting rigs and video walls.

I also got regular emails then a barrage of emails so I unsubscribed..... a week later I got the cold call (from a very polite gent) who promised he would remove me from the email list. Haven't had an email since.

Last time I went was 2 years ago and it was heading too much in the A/V direction then. Nothing like the good old days of the real expo of audio gear - I remember playing with Coronados and other such fun stuff back then......

I remember when Rick carted a pile of 'cool heavy stuff' stashed in one corner. And talking to many people in this circle plus Wes Dooley who was very obliging to chat to at the Mixmasters stand, plus hearing the late Bruce Jackson interview. Haven't been since then, sounds like I haven't missed much.

Gone are the days of the great SMPTE and Entech shows I attended and displayed at regularly in the past.

To add insult to injury, I received an SMS hoping that I enjoyed yesterday and I can get a free lunch if I am one of the first 50 in today...lol !!

I got an email thanking me for going. I didn't go. I didn't know it was on. I didn't care.

The only reason integrate was as good as it was
.. Was that Andy and I MADE it into something
We wanted to go to ..
Unpaid.. And taken for granted
we took our collective bats
And went home a couple of years back
Integrate ..ffft
Audiotech ffft
