Mercury V72S

2200

An INCREDIBLE preamp. Do not want to sell it, but I'll buy another one before tracking my next album, I just finished an album, kick drum went through this on drums, and Everything else went through this, bass, vocals, acoustic and electric guitar. Everything.

It's so damn good. I could send mp3s as testament to that to a prospective buyer. I'll get by with other pres, but sure as shit I'll end up with at least one more of these. Or the M76's, only 300 original telefunken V72s's were ever made, Beatles used them famously, anyway I love this thing to death but I need cash and I just worked 8 months full time on an album so I'll push that for a while but will have more mercury telefunken clones before next album tracking.

Sorry I'm not cool enough for you, I mean it, not hustling. But it's all good, I'm used to being contrary to everyone's expectations, the important thing is I don't hurt or offend anyone. So be it.

If it's the etiquette of the forum, much apologies, my last reply assumes it's just one persons opinion.

There is nothing wrong at all with being passionate about gear around here.
Sorry Mark - I don't see this post as too much hype.
We all have our reasons for liking great sounding gear - and it is also nice to hear how people use it.

In other news I would suspect about 5000 + V72 originals were made , they were done under licence by several companies . which doesn't bring the mercury up or done in my books.
the beatles v72 model were slightly different for abbey road and a couple of other customers

but like all things old original v72 can just seem to work forever or be a total impossible to keep working pain in the arse .

Pity they sound so good.

I don't really know anything about the mercury remake except i wanted one when they first came out , but i seem to have forgotten about it .

Thanks for the info!!, yeh I'm a bit bananas over it, but it's my first premium tube channel, I've had 1073's (the dpd not the originals) api512's, got some jlm stuff, it's horses for courses for sources of course... But I'll simmer down on the hyperbole in future ha!!!

I miss last word. Used to hang for those articles like the next game of thrones episode.

Ya gotta write a book!
