pultec stereo SP3 all tube line mixer -sold !
as mentioned in another post
i am thinking of selling this thing
its a really rare tube restored and perfect looking and working pultec 7:2 line mixer built in the days where a few panpots was worth making a three unit rack
Rob squire made me an interface box with sowter transformers and vu meters so you feed it 3 pairs of stereo channels on xlrs
plus a mono xlr
and mute each pair plus the mono seperately and keep an eye on the levels .
which make it perfect as an all tube summing mixer for stems which is what i have been using it for in my mastering suite
its not going into the new place because i am trying to have less not more - so its just sitting around
of coarse you could add one of the proharmonic passive mix busses to it and add as many channels as you like for bigger mixes
the pultec is 110 volt
the stems interface box is 240v
it has cost me about 4 grand over time maybe a bit more i dunno i dont want to think about it
i reckon its worth 2 grand to a forum member
lets talk

That is a very nice unit. And your price is a bargain if you ask me.
======
Not wanting to hijack your thread, but I noticed you mentioned in another post to Myles, that we can't have everything and that at some point we must consolidate and just use the good stuff and stop hoarding everything just coz you can (I'm not quoting you literally, of course)...anyways, I've been thinking the same thing. I've trying to reduce physically the amount of stuff I have, yet be as versatile as I can...I wonder if it is an age thing?

Unfortunately, I am not in the market for your tube mixer, but it is a tempting piece.

Re: pultec stereo SP3 all tube line mixer
I dont think its an age thing
i have been turning over gear for as long as i have been buying it
i bought this pultec many years ago when i got mastering Stems every day
i set about getting the extra interface made at great
expense years ago as well
both units have long since paid for themselves we hardly use stems any more
and i reckon the price is about right if you take out the " pultec"
mojo factor but sure the pultec vibe is worth alot to the right guy
i will through that in for free:) for a forum member only
chris the tasmanian expressed real interest in it
before i set a price and posted the photo
so i guess he gets first crack at it at this price
Reality for me is i have too many consoles that
will never get used in the new place
one by one you will see them here
i will be turning this pultec into part of a neumann
47 i have my eye on so out it goes
you cannot have everything

Re: pultec stereo SP3 all tube line mixer
The real trick is getting it in the house without getting caught by the Minister of War and Finance with 20 questions about what is it, why do you "need it" and how much was it
I already have too much stored at work waiting for the right time to take it home.......

Re: pultec stereo SP3 all tube line mixer
This pultec doesnt have an eq does it? Its just the summing mixer.
I just wanted to check that this isnt a stereo pultec eq with summing. (that would be crazy to get just the eq for 2K)
Because id probably be all over that

I've got a manual here for the slightly later Solid state version.. must be the one just after yours with new fangled transistor Gain make up stages, but all passive in the mix section. I also found a Pultec catalogue from 1969 with a page about the Tube SP3. Interesting little beast.
