I reckon it's a pretty smart move on their part. So it's basically a summer with insert points and DAW control? I'm looking for something somewhere around the price of this, so I might have to do some more research......it's cheaper than the other options I was looking at.

Plus it has motorised faders and recall. Great idea.

I've been waiting for this for a while. They're moving right into the new Neve Genisis/API/Rupert Neve territory, excpet the SSL desk does stuff none of the others do yet.

I'd be interested to find out everything it does in detail to see whether it's a good investment or whether buying $30k worth of X-Rack stuff would do a better job. But automation and DAW control etc are good news.

Have to say though, if you look around you could probably pick up a used G series for not much more than that.

I want !!!

Seriously, IMHO a motorised fader summer is exactly what has been missing.

The Neve 8816 was a step in the right direction, but you can't do any real "mixing" on the knobs, and if you send anything less than full signal out of a D/A you start loosing resolution.

The 8804 address this, but you had no recallability, and if you had fader moves, you had no way of automating it... every take had to be a take - yes I know everyone used to do it that way - but still.

With this. you can set your D/A's so they are outputting at Max Res, and yet still have analogue summing and full recallability of your fader moves.

Strap a C2 across the Mix Buss and you're away.

Now - where did that sack of rainy day money go to?

If i had a spare thirty grand there would be many other things higher on my list of priorities. However if i was running a busy production studio where recall and analog interfacing were both needed then....... maybe.
