Hi - just wondering if anybody knew a lawyer (or similar) in Sydney they could refer to me with experience in drafting basic recording contracts? I need to get some basic contracts drawn up before I record a couple of artists. I've not done this before, so someone with experience and patience to guide me would be ideal! If you know of someone (with reasonable rates!) please PM me with the details. Thanks for any assistance.

Thanks Kris for the links, there's some pretty comprehensive packages in there (US-based). Do you have any experience in having them adapted for local use? Anyone used these and bent them into shape for Australian (and overseas use)?
Thanks too, Linear for the PM! (reply sent). I'd love to talk to that fellow!
Cheers

Maybe give Simpsons a call, they are probably one of the most expensive but they work very fast and could actually maybe save you money.
I was happy and quite surprised with the price they charged me for checking out a licensing contract and making alterations and the like.

I'll vouch for Simpsons as well. Unless they've changed their structure, since I was there, charges/costs are kind of relative to the "level of experience" of the particular staff member, so if your needs are relatively straight forward you may not need to go to the top of their pecking order.

Jules Munroe at Simpsons is very good. I have also used Brett Oaten in the past http://www.brettoaten.com.au/movie.html . Get some quotes. Both companies are very experienced in the Australian Music Industry.

No worries Steve.
I'll vouch for Jules Munroe too, a very nice guy who is very experienced, when I hired him he got 3 of his staff straight onto it and it was done in 11/2 hours, so the actual cost was quite minimal.
