DSP Processing?

Yo dudez,

besides UAD cards, SSL duende...and TC (powercore)...

does anyone know of any other manufacturers of DSP rack or PCI solutions? I'm not asking coz the above arent good enough, just wanted to know if there's anything else people are using?

working on a PC, more interested in stuff i can use with cubase...and related hosts.

no...more....digi...design!...hahaha

a sane pricetag is a prerequisite as well..

i dont mind paying money...just not when i see the same crap cheaper...

damn, why do i always get uptight when i hear the D word? hahahaha

It's my personal belief that we're getting to the point where DSP cards are becoming redundant.
I've got an 8 Core Mac Pro, and I'm point where I can run all the plug's that I reasonably need...*1

The only reason I can see to run DSP in today's environment is if there is a specific plug that you want
that will only run on DSP.

Note *1 - that is until tomorrow when 12Meg SuperDSD Pro becomes the new norm.

yeah, what you said...is what I thought...most people have at least Dual core's for music work...im struggling with the concept we need DSP processors....especially since computers are sp powerful, and especially with things like delay compensation...

interesting....

and these DSP cards have , in comparisoin to computer processors, less powerful processors.

we use uad1. its great, but we cant use it while tracking, it needs delay compensation so is a mix only thing.

we need to use digi (hd2accel with apoge and lynx converters) so we have low latency recording (with dsp plugins if needed).

this is our compromise and it works for us. id love to get more uad cards, but need an expansion chassis (pci/pcie)...

I think the Waves box is just an accelerator for the plug ins you already have, like a render farm, and does not contain any plugs. I could be wrong though.

It provides DSP processing power for the plugs.. yes, I would presume you'd have to have the Waves plugs first..
However, there is an offer that bundles some plugs with this hardware too..

APA's are not compatible with the new Waves 5.9.7 update.

Thanks for that Dale - I wasn't aware of the 5.9.7 unsupported changes with the APA myself..
