the secret is to use your peripheral vision, ie don't look directly at the sheep. it's a well observed phenomenon that we react faster when we're not expecting the stimulus.
that's why drag racers watch the starting lights out of the corner of their eye.
my reaction times were significantly faster when viewing "off axis", and interestingly significantly faster looking out of my left eye than my right.
left eye around .18, right around .24, direct about .3
oh yes i should mention that my results may have been influenced by a bottle of shiraz. that won't have helped. not so much bobbing bobcat as pissed panther.
i'll try again tomorrow in the sober light of day.
