who amonst us has a studio where the rack gear doesnt get moved around... ever..?
not me
i have been searching the worldwide waste of time looking for "client photos" just to make sure the use of our images is fair and not scum thieves using our to place to make their place somethings it not
two things
1. nobody outside those turds at diskfaktory in the usa have done anything other then handle our images with integrity
2. no two images taken by our clients in a mastering session show our gear to be 100% in the same place as any other photo ( which means we obviously move gear around more then i thought ! )
trust me if you zapped your client as he was holding up a rack unit while you moved it ( for the betterment of his session....
then i am sure an insurance company would be consider it "hostile"
how many racks bits of gear to you actually have...? ( 100...?)
we all need to tag and test - its gotta be cheaper then NOT doing it
btw greg cameron at my place in sydney is setup to tag and test your studio locally
we are still working through tagging all of our gear but at least we ARE working on it :)

indeed, in fact i think it goes further than this. What i've gleaned from the dudes that administer these regulations is that what they mean by portable is NOT what you or i might think it is. In essence if it plugs in to a wall socket it is portable. If you have to get an electrician around to pull the back off and hard wire it into the mains supply, then that is considered NOT PORTABLE.
But Otto has had advice and it is different. And here-in lies the problem. You either commission an OH&S expert to come around and write up the OH&S policy for your workplace and let him be the one to spell it out in black and white what you need to do or not do, or wait till you find yourself in court and start feeding your lawyers wheelbarrows full of money to argue the fine points.... Or as Astrovic said use some "prudence".
I feel an article brewing, should i put my neck on the chopping block??

I would bet that the rules will be different in every state, so you would have to be careful with your disclaimers lest someone turns up in court waving your article when one of their customers fries themselves with a dodgy Galaga machine.
