Managers..........

Postby Ausrock » Fri Sep 19, 2008 10:39 pm

Just wondering if anyone has any advice/suggestions and/or opinions on managers for a (rock) band. My son's band has one person who has managed some well known names wanting to talk and there are a couple of others with slightly lesser reputations sniffing around.

i'd check out their history, if they have managed bands before get in contact with the bands they managed and ask them for their opinion, like what they did for the band, were they easy to contact, are they a cool guy/gal or sly, etc..
hope that helps a tad!!

You don't have to like your manager, you need results and that swings both ways (manager and band).

What's this person's name?

First off, this manager ideally should be affiliated with/be a member of MMF http://www.mmfaustralia.com.au/index.php?page=WhosWho Look them up, you can do a search via this site to see if he/she is.

Have the bands this person has managed had commercial success? (success doesn't necessarily mean charting top 10 or appearing on Rove)

Worthy to note that a manager with a lesser profile but whom is hungry/proactive and has contacts can be just as effective, if not more so, than a manager who has a roster of clients. All depends on who they are.

A name will help, there's much you can tell from it.

cheers
