I'm looking for a 2RU rack enclosure for DIY dual la2a -

Elgee in Melbourne manufactures aluminium cases. www.elgee.com

Gday Colvan - welcome aboard!

LA2A - nice. Tell us more, are you thinking P2P or one of the PCB versions floating around (e.g Drip Electronics?)

As for cases, I've found the Altronics cases pretty easy to work with:

http://www.altronics.com.au/index.asp?a ... m&id=H5012

I'd like to try the Elgee cases some time, they come highly recommended.

Oh, I've also tried Jaycar's cases an was unimpressed. Hard to work with.

dick smiths are offloading 3RU cases for $40. cheapest cases by far, and the extra height will give you ample ventilation. solid enough, and easier to work with than the jaycar cases.

(i've got four of 'em now - 2 for mono LA2A's using the drip v.1 boards, one for G9 mic pre and the last one for a pair of Baby Animals / pair of neve-ish 1290's)

The DSE ones are actually 3 and a bit units high... you'll notice in the DSE writeup they mention NOTHING about how many standard rack units height it is.... :-)

I bought one too, for my poorman vari-mu compressor DIY project I'm slowly putting together... was annoyed when I worked out it was bigger than 3u. then I figured it'll really need extra space for cooling, anyway...

nice replies - altronics hadn't crossed my mind - great price

My setup is portable so i'm interested in the 2RU - also im into standard rack heights so i won't go with dickies

LA2A - i picked up a stereo board from silents arts on prodigy pro - worked out to be $50 (just before the dive) and nicely designed. saving up for the sowters as we speak

amongst other things i recently finished a hamptone tube pre; loving the tube and iron - been mostely digital and solid state up until this point due to portability considerations - now starting to get the sounds i've been wanting. downside is that i now own a trolly
