Calling all 2 inch machine owners !

Postby NYMo » Thu Oct 23, 2008 12:44 am

Hi there,

Just wondering how owners with working 2" machines out there are using them....

(a) Clients are using them regularly ?

(b) Once a quarter ?

(c) Once a year ?

(d) Collecting dust in a corner ?

Sorry..can't find a poll button.
Cheers

Every session bar the odd demo is tracked to 2 inch here. 1800 hours in a bit over 2 years according to the meter on the machine.

There is no poll button, mods can create one though.

hi there,

I wanted to do a poll so everyone couldn't see each others responses..... so I would get a truer response !

Thanx to those that have replied already....looks as though analog is still very much alive.

Ryan....what about a poll ??

Cheers

I've got a 2" 24 track Studer, a 2" 16 track MM1200 and a 1" 8 Track Ampex 440.

I reckon they are used in about 50% of sessions, with 30% using Logic, and 20% Protools.

Of that tape machine 50%, 60% is on the 16 track, 35% on the 24 track, and 5% on the 440.

Go figure.

I have a MTR90 MK2, 24 track, full set of dolby A and SR, gets used on about 30-40% of projects, its by request, and I always give the band the choice. the rest of the time its mostly Nuendo (my choice), and 5% pro tools (when I absolutely have too)

I have an Ampex mm1100 16 trk that is getting new connections etc , so havent used it on a paying job yet. My Otari 1/2' 8 trk gets used about 3 or 4 times a year. The bulk of my work is on Logic

I've got a cassette deck with a record option - does that count?

100% Logic Audio through Apogee conversion, they want something else then go somewhere else. That's the great joy of only being semi-pro, I got a day job and can pick and choose.
