Any orders yet for that matter?

I have built the Micro 1290 (I assume it's simmilar) and while It was good on guitar and bass I felt the JLM 99v was much better on everything.
Very big fan of the 99v.

Hope the module is water proof because we have a pool as well. :)
Yes JP the MA5 is a good idea.
So far just with a quick run through the NV500 I can say that it's a lot smoother sounding than the MA5.
Chain vocals< U87 < NV500

It would be better if we could do it on a weekend as I'm back to work now, but if that's uncool we can do through the week.

I wish I could but I finally get back into our house next weekend after 7 months of reno's. So I won't be going anywhere for a while and I just want to get in and setup so I can finish some new 500 modules over Xmas while it is quiet.

After the listening session I had a bit more time to play with the NV500. When you consider at the session the NV500 module went against full rack model pres, it really held it's own.
On Sunday I added the JLM PEQ500 (Pultect type EQ) and boosted 20K and cut a bit of 50Hz..... wow the pre really opened up in a very nice way, giving air to the sound with some sweet harmonic distortion.
Worth getting boys, especially now the US$ is so high or is that we are so low. Anyway I bought it, need to get another soon.

I thought from the semi-blind (3-4 beers) test the Avedis came out on top, that's a lunchbox model too. Maybe some tests on a wider range of instruments would give a better idea of the NV500's capabilities. Maybe it would be better to limit the amount of pres to test and run more instruments through them. Just some thoughts :)

I agree that some pres need more time to see where their strengths lay, but I had 2 x MA5 and I can tell you the NV is a lot smoother. Heath would agree with me on that.

Tim better get it soon or you'll be paying $150 more. Blame the yanks, they're getting the JLM gear in Aussie dollars which as you know is peanuts or are they bananas.

Yeah I agree smooth, but it's a big sounding pre too, it picked up a lot more of the guitar body so it was'nt really bright which I actually like, has everything in the sound of it so it could be eq'd to suit a lot of things.

I really want to hear it on electric guits.

Yeah I remember when we did the recordings the NV500 immediately followed the 99V. They were markedly different to my ears. It's almost as if the 99V had a high pass filter on it, which I kinda liked because it sounded like it would fit well in a mix. I see what you mean though Heath about the NV, there'd be a lot of range to play with when it comes to eq.

Why 2 x TG500, why not 1 x TG500 and 1 x Dual 99v?

I think I'll get another NV500
