I've just been listening to the tracks we did over the weekend and I must say there were no losers as far as equipment is concerned. It's good to see all our fellow Turtles are using some very high and sweet gear, not a B&^$@#?? in sight.

sorry time slipped away very fast so vocals and acoustic guitar was it.

Like I said every thing sounded good but there were some standouts:
ELM 251; pure cream which made you dribble a bit and wondering how you could come up with $10K to get one.
Great River MP-2NV; just nice on everything.
The rest, well start saving your money boys now you know what you want.

Thanks Nic to you and your wife for your hospitality! It was great to meet all who attended and a lot of fun. It perhaps wasn't the most scientific of approaches but definitely my kinda BBQ. I remember hearing "number 7, number 7" several times which seemed to improve the sound of..."number 7". Nothing sounded bad to me and the Soundelux and Inner Tube modded U47 were outstanding! I'd just like to say thanks to Nic and his wife for putting on the day and feeding us all. I had a great day and enjoyed meeting everyone.

The only downside is the mic envy i've developed - that 251 was awesome.

Big thanks for Nic and his wife for putting on a great day and an AWESOME BBQ...

I really enjoyed meeting with my fellow audio nerds, its a shame i didnt get to talk to some of you more.

It has also given me the motivation and inspiration to make my podcast happen.

I'll keep you all updated when its closer to happening and I'll be asking you all to submit any ideas you may have to be featured on the yet to be named podcast.

March 09 will be great, we need to start decide how/where its going to work...

So how did the JLM NV500 and TG500 go on electrics.

I was thinking of building a kit Micro 1290 (NV500) and already have a Dual 99V.
Maybe the API was good on guitars as well??

thoughts?

I built a micro 1290 a while back and miss it in heavy guitar tones. Just wondering if the API or TG are more suitable.

David if you live in Sydney you can come over and have a listen. I think I will get someone over soon and maybe we can lay some tracks down doing EG.

Lock in a date and I'll try to be there. For some traditional guitar sounds let me know if you'd like me to bring a Fender Strat, Gibson Les Paul or a Gretsch Falcon. Tim's got the custom guitars sorted.

Not all my guitars are custom tho - only one of my strats, but its still a traditionally styled Strat..
It has more of the custom compound radius necks, different neck joint, body chamfer radius is slightly greater than a normal strat..
I have a Tele, super Strat (HB, Floyd Rose, EMG's, etc) and a LP style Epi which has been totally reworked and new pups.
Pete has a lovely LP and Gretsch Falcom - and a beautiful, handmade arch top acoustic.. to die for tones..
