Best 8 ch firewire interface under $1000

Postby vintagesoundguy » Mon Nov 24, 2008 6:01 pm

Gday

Any ideas on the above?
I was going to upgrade my digi001 to a digi002 but now I am having second thoughts and thinking about going to Logic and a compatible firewire interface. I have been using PT most recently but am drawn back to Logic as it is a better all round package IMO.

I don't mind and would even prefer a used unit simply to get more for my money.

M-audio Profire 2626 is under a grand, have used one and is on par with 002 but has more connectivity. Can't comment on mic pre's, haven't used them.

Im happy with my M-Audio FW-1814, it was a fair way past 1k when i got it though, not sure now...

As far as the pres go? Well, it sure as shit sounded a lot beter than my 001 before it... Maybe that has more to do with the converters...
