nup, we are definitely NOT footy fans at all..

colour is actually "Windsor Blue" and "Mexican Chilli".. it works well in our current showroom so we are continuing the colours
in the new place.. it's actually not as "harsh" in real life and has had many positive comments so far!

Great looking job, 1 thing though, how did you fill the holes behind the airconditioners just interested as I'll need a similar one in my new room, this has bugged me a little.

At the moment I can see 2 entry points into my room which will be electrical and aircon. My electricals will be under the floor so thats no issue as I don't need many outlets. But the aircon entry point will have to be plugged somehow.

we used "Loaded Vinyl" and acoustic sealant to plug up all the holes.. more info on the insulation, acoustic curtains and panels coming very soon!!

wow, I didn't realise how long since I have posted here. The Rehearsal Studios have been up and running for around 6 months now and all going great. We ran out of cash for the Recording Studio but it's now in it's final stages - final acoustics and door hardware going on today and tomorrow and we have started bolting gear into the racks. By next week we will be ready to start testing and have a few weeks before our first bookings in the new room in January!!

i bit my tongue figuring its probably fine for rehearsals

but there is blue and there is BLUE, and there is red and there is RED

other then that WELL DONE even getting to the final studio stage its a credit to you

I dunno Rick - I actually kinda like it, even though I would never have come up with it.

Colour schemes are what they are - I know of bands who chose one studio over another because of Playstation vs Xbox in the chill room, but not because of the colour scheme - I actually react worse to the Abbey Road studio decor in the Live at ... series - wouldn't stop me working or playing there, though!

the owners of our rental property were the fruity designer types, that watch better homes and gardens, and thought, 3 colours for a living room was a good idea.


that said, it makes any gear i stick in here look f-king cool!!

the colors actually have a reason..we had lots of paint....

no really.

the blue is close to ibm blue, which is the most calming and productive color. the calming bit helps with the amount of damage in the rooms (its working).

the red is a creative color and helps with song writing etc...

im serious. apparently this stuff works.

the feedback from bands seems to support this as well..

One of the places I worked when younger did a very bold colour scheme. Lots of different colours on different walls all throughout the building. The reception are was red but we noticed after it was painted there were lots of arguments in the reception area so it was changed to an amber and things went back to normal. True story.

damien i am a huge believer in colour therapy , so i think you are well on the right track

however blue and red "strobe" when place together negating any benifets you mentioned
and maybe the web messes the actually colour shades up in photos but i have heard reports :(

nothing wrong with blue , hell my rooms have always been blue always will be always be
nothing wrong with a whack of feature red either, ...err all my rooms have a whack of red in them always will :)



but ....

hell its your studio , maybe you dont strobe , and i am just too sensitive to such things :)


err all this... coming from a guy that wont buy or use anything unless he likes the way it looks

interesting that no-one who has walked in to the complex has commented negatively on the colours - many have said it looks great! Remember also with the acoustics, bass traps and panels etc going in there isn't a lot of large wall or roof space that is just paint anyway and it makes a huge change to many of the drab creams and whites that seems to envelope the rest of the world these days!

Wiring, soldering and punch panelling is almost complete.. the Mac and console go in next few days after a clean up.

The Telefunkens turned up today!! 2 x V72 and 2 x V76 (30kg in total!!), now we have 19 channels of outboard pres!

Final Testing phase.. everything is functional, some final touches to the acoustics and visuals to be done after it's all been tested.

Drummer Mark Kennedy (Leo Sayer, Billy Thorpe, Spectrum etc) came in for a few days to test some drums. This week we also have Peter Maslen (Maz) from Boom Crash Opera coming in to test some drum sounds for us as well.
