NS10 speaker restoration

Postby vintagesoundguy » Tue Apr 14, 2009 1:27 am

gday all

My NS10 cones have lost their brilliant white and are now more like smoky brown. I would love to get them back to original white. Has anyone had a go at this I need some advice on what to use to remove the discolouring.

Also one has a slight tear 2 inches long I can't discern any difference in the sound but just in case it gets worse is there any way to repair it or should I just replace them?
I know they are available on ebay in the US but are there any suppliers in Oz? Do Yamaha sell direct?

kind regards
Dale

Dunno about repairing monitors but I've succesfully fixed tears in PA drivers with watered down aquadhere and a rollie paper. I'd use a damp sponge and soapy water for cleaning the cones, once again, works fine on PA speakers (beer, spit, blood, and general filth)
