Male vocalists in the style of Andrew Strong (The Commitment

Postby Chinagraf » Tue Apr 28, 2009 5:30 pm

Hey,
does anyone know of any male singers that are in the area of Andrew Strong from the Commitments? Looking for one for a session, has to be able to take direction and record with a control room full of clients. Session can be in Melbourne or Sydney (Piermont).
Thanks,
Andy

Why don't you hold auditions?

I hate auditions. They almost always end up a wast of time especially if they attract unknowns. I'm not saying there isn't unknown talent out there jus that auditions arnt an efficient way of finding suitable candidates for the job..... Word of mouth through respected and established networks.

Got a few siggestions, client just wants a few to pick from.
Nic, I don't do auditions, just word of mouth, recco's from other muso's etc.. there's not really the time to do that sort of thing. Although I do see a lot of bands and if I hear someone I like I'll get them in for something if they suit. It can be a bit hit and miss though, and it's the sort of thing I do on smaller jobs without clients around. It can get a bit tricky if it turns out they're not so great in the studio and you've got a client paying a lot with a tight deadline sitting there looking at their watch.
Of course, I've also been known to think a pretty girl sounded a lot better out late on a Saturday night only to find out in the studio that I was in fact listening with my eyes....

Sometimes it's the only way to listen that makes a band bareable!
