sticking aurelex to the walls, without damage?

gday guys,

sick and tired of mixing in my untreated room....finally am in a room i can treat in my new house...only problem...

the landlord is a bit of a bitch and doesnt want anything to do with anything that will ruin the paint of the house, even if we paint it again ourselves (i know, it doesnt make sense)...that applies for putting holes in the wall too..

does anyone know of a way to stick that sorta stuff up, without damaging the walls??

JK, (without damaging the walls) essentially no.
Pete (tunetown) and I used double-sided tape (with no luck) then we used the Auralex stick on velcro dots (with no luck again)..
We have both had to resort to using thumb tacks to hold it up (especially the ceiling tiles/foam) - I dont particularly want to use contact adhesive as its more permanent..
Maybe build some gobo's of different sizes and move them around - John L Sayers forum has LOTS of info on this stuff - I got alot of my info from there ages ago when researching acoustic treatment and room design/layout..

How about not sticking it to the walls, stick it to some thin plywood sheets and hook that up, then you can move it, take it with you. a few screw holes are simple to fill and paint over verses sticky crap all over your walls.

At our (residential) place I needed to put up a 10kg large picture frame but was told 'no holes'.

So I got 6 (!) 3M command adhesive hooks that hold 2kg each. I stuck them to the wall in a kind-of catenary shape that matched the shape of the hanging wire and voila. It's been up for 6 months so far. What's great is they are removed with no residue.

So if you make lightweight plywood mounts for the aurelex, you could hang them just like a picture.

Tim, how about those ECG tabs, those thigs are as sticky as hell, ever tested them? Seriously?

ah Heath, good idea, but there is no way to properly attach things to them..
sure, they stick to chests, but I doubt they'd hold anything else!!
plus, they have a gel pad in the middle which makes for the electrical conduction point.. ;)

If you you go to Mitre 10 or maybe Bunnings you can get 2.4m x 1.2m sheets of black poly board that resembles cardboard box material. Cut to size and stick to the back of your sound treatment using Bostik spray contract glue. Then screw self tapping screws into the cornice edge of the ceiling then hang your sound treatment modules down using fishing line.
All you have to do when vacating the premises is patch up some screw holes using Selleys No-Gaps and maybe a small can of Dulux paint, of course matching the original surface colour.
Remember to use drop sheets to protect other surfaces and a sturdy Rino step ladder, available at the paint section of your local Mitre 10 or Bunnings store.

my room has picture rail all the way around the walls at about 3 meter height. after building various lightweight panels I just used standard picture hooks and fishing wire. Great if you've got picture rails.

3M Command stuff... they have these tabs that look like velcro in various sizes, but the two sides are the same and "clip" together.... they're awesome, I've used them for everything around the place (photography studio as well as recording with MASSIVE framed prints and canvases all over the walls). Go buy a pack from Bunnings and give one a try, for $5 it can't hurt to give them a go. Sorry I can't remember what they're called, but just remember they look like velcro, but both pieces are like the "hook" side. Oh, and they remove without any residue or paint removal.
