As a voice of an opposite opinion, I don't really see the fuss. It would be fun for an afternoon or two. Maybe because I haven't actually played one, but it looks kinda like an expensive gimmick to me. There's been a few of these sort of things over the years - ebows, sustaniacs, chapman sticks etc.. they make a brief appearance on a few recordings and fade into ho-humness. I'm not really hearing anything from it that a skilled guitarist couldn't do with a normal axe and a good pedalboard. Sure, if you are a messy player it will help by muting strings that you aren't playing. :) It can sound muted and resonant like a banjo (why oh why), but it won't be the same because a banjo is tuned and played differently to a guitar. You can play a slide and mute all the other strings, which is great if you can't play slide properly. You can do eerie synth like pads, which is great if you can't play keyboards, or don't know how to use a volume pedal. I predict - Ubertoy for IT specialists who can't play properly, and christmas present from Daddy for Trustafarians. 8)
Of course I could be wrong. Guitar is my first instrument so perhaps I am biased. I do think the technology behind it is impressive. I also love Moog and have a few bits of their's so I'm by no means bashing...

Andy, guitar is also my first instrument - however, I see your point and tend to agree - useful in certain situations only I guess.

One of the videos about it I watched mentioned the Fernandes Sustainer, anyone used one of these? Seem to be available for $300ish and could be really useful for me. (I play in a doom band, lots of long sustained notes)

Ouch! these things are crazy expencive. I'm sure its a great guitar but I'll just stick with my Tele and Jazzmaster thanks.

I very much doubt I'll be getting one of these any time soon, unless someone wants to sponsor me to make synthy sounds with a guitar in my spare time? Hmmmmm, ur silence speaks volumes...

I'm hoping I'll find one in a guitar shop so i can have a belt on one :D

guitar store's barely stock any of the moog pedals...maybe 2 or so...but not the whole range...

somehow doubt they'd be stocking a 4K pound monster!

the slide with that thing sounds pretty sweet :)

the question is, CAN u do all these things with a regular ax? some of the things i heard are akin to a reverse effect but they are usually semi on time :P


other nice thing is that this is all dry sustain...no delays or verbs or flanges, or any other time based effect...with an envelope mangulator/volume pedalage and some effects, i can imagine this to be pretty far-kin sweet

I dunno if there is any reviews online but there is plenty more videos on youtube... The review I read in performing musician mag got me excited about never being able to afford one :P

It actually comes with a pedal and it has envelope filter controls within the guitar from my understanding... To get that synthy sound with just the guitar... I really wanna play one. U can apparently feel the guitar doing its thing, and apparently the manual suggests that u get used to the feel a little unplugged before u plug the beast in...
