OK I've got a few emails already so will answer them here instead of answering the same questions.
The 99V opAmp is not the new 16V version as the unit runs on 24V. It is the original one.
The output knod can be pulled out to give full range attenuation of left in for fine tuning.
There are no Inserts. Just Mic in and Output.
I've recapped with Panasonic FC's which to me just give an all round improved sound quality the the original Green brand ?
The impedance switch is an add on. There is a new faceplate which can accomidate this but mine has no markings. Values are same as JLM99v500.
Sound is clean and thick. Think custard - no not the band. Almost has a fat compression quality to it. (To me anyway).
I can email pic's.
More info here = http://www.jlmaudio.com/JLM99V.htm
If I don't answer promptly please excuse me as I have my first baby due any day now. I think the sale of this my just fund the nappy bill :-(

re nappies..
you could do what some traditional japanese did / still do
when your wife has a baby you send her home to mother until the baby is toilet trained !
you hang out with your mates in "whisky bars smoking cigars" and wait for your beautiful wife and perfect child return
sometimes if the boss at work allows it you can go and visit on saturday
and the best bit is your little sister in law gets sent around to handle all of the "domestic duties" in your time of "stress"
it gets the mother an child back in the house in about 9 months to a year- toilet trained and super quiet
- no nappies required .
but have you seen the kinds of crazy home stereo systems this leads to ?
it might be better to buy the nappies :)

Oh and she'll realise all these gear is worth an extra 0 on the end.
Yes, shhhhhh, we don't want our wives knowing how much we spend on our addiction.
I have a few JLM items, 99v500, NV500, PEQ500 all in a lunchbox. Wife has no idea how much it is worth. I think coz I sold some valve amps (that took up space in the house) and replaced the space with a hugely smaller item she is happy.

I keep putting off going on holiday with my girlfriend to buy gear. I think in about ten years we'll make it to Melbourne.
Unless I need some new gear then.

I hate pain..... and avoid it at all cost. Made it to 50 with no stitches or brocken bones....but luck is on my side. The one time i should have had stitches we lived too far out in the bush, just west of the Little Desert in SA.

This reminds me of Mel Gibson & Renee Russo in Lethal Weapon 2or 3 when they are comparing scars and stuff..
;-)
I had my gall bladder out April last year and tonsills a year before that.. At 40, tonsils REALLY REALLY hurt when they come out - much better to lose them when you are a kid!!
2 days out of hospital I got asked to go record Pennywise at Luna Park. I had to take a roadie (thanks Pete) to help carry my gear as I wasnt supposed to lift for 6 weeks!!
John, dont admit you've been decked by women (unless decked in another manner)

Rick - I love this - give us some more Japanese Traditions (Wisdom).
I managed to get away with not having to get up thru the night  but...
I did have to change the odd nappy or 2.
err the only other japanese wisdom i have comes from my friend "Mr Hero" at sushi bar rashi (been eating there for 24 years..) and its probably of little use here.
however make no mistake, i do the night shift "dinner bath story bed ..".and the middle of the night stuff at home every night !, and the early (6am) morning shift " wake up breakfast dress for the pack bags kiss em on the head"
ones is out of nappies- one has a year to go - how time flies when your having fun :)
