OK seriously i now have TWO songs that are crying out for some omnichord mojo - does anyone know anyone who's got one?
failing that - does anyone have a really good omnichord sample!?
can't believe i'm asking this.

geez, all I was thinking was that this must be the instrument used to make all the dark, scary music in films.
Y'know, like "dum dum dum DUM" (rumble of typani)
Apart from that - never heard of 'em. Sorry

They are too fragile to rent out - easily damaged -
I have a mint omnichord but would never hire it out - not even to a session in the next room!
Sorry, I like it too much and they do wear out on the strummy part.
A sample would not really work out I don't think - unless one spent a few days with it.
They come up on Evilbay at times.

the omnichord is fragile?
when I've held one it didn't feel any more fragile than the roland x0x synths.
would be a cool thing to have, though!
I was stalking a MIDI one on ebay once, but then came to my senses before the auction ended and realised I really didn't need it.

yep really has to be the original one
and yeah you're right about sampling, you'd never find exactly the phrase you were after.
last one i saw on ebay went for over $600 - insanity.
but here i am desperate for one, who's crazy now.

It was an old one I held - should have bought it at the time.. was only $50 or something. but that would have been maybe 5 years ago. It didn't seem fragile at all to me. (yeah it'd break of you dropped it - but so would a guitar, I don't drop things like that...) it's quite possible my idea of fragile is different to another person's, though...
I was interested in the MIDI one for the ability to use its basic playing style with synths I like the sound of.... original omnichord sound doesn't do anything much for me.
