My daughter, currently battling the combined rigors of teenage angst and chronic fatigue myopathy, told me the other day have much she loved me reading to her at bedtime when she was little. Its a small investment that pays big dividends, and believe me there are times when a fond memory shared with a child is worth more than any Pultec.

however make no mistake, i do the night shift "dinner bath story bed ..".and the middle of the night stuff at home every night !, and the early (6am) morning shift " wake up breakfast dress for the pack bags kiss em on the head"

ones is out of nappies- one has a year to go - how time flies when your having fun :)

Yeah, I still do that too - I have a 2.5 yr old who I put to bed most nights and get up through the night/early morning for - although he comes into us and I take him back to his bed and he settles again quickly.. however its getting a little less frequent.
Toilet training at present and seems to be going ok. The bonus is I'm a house dad 1 day a week too. So I do the washing, prep and cook dinner, do swimming lessons (for 2.5), soccer and netball training (for my 10 and 13yr old S & D) as well as all the shopping and bits that need to be done..
I well and truely do my share..

I am in the same boat, but moving into the teenage years with one of my daughters.

I agree with the investment in time - you can't pay for it, or get it back any other way. It is a true investment.

I have been helping my daughter with her clarinet. She is not going well, so I have had to be a bit authoratative and "make" her practice. So I thought, I will sit through an excrutiating half an hour practice with her. Help her with her timing, and her notes and her expression. It was like dealing with the Regan from the exorcist, head spining around, lots of "I hate you". I was very calm and patient (well, appeared that way).

At the end, she could play her piece and we made a start on another piece.

The next day, my wife asks her if she wants me (husband) or her (wife) to site with her for her practice. You know what she said "I want daddy".

It was very nice. In fact, we got through her stuff much quicker and she played much better too.

It all an investment, that I dont think we will see the immediate benefits until much later though.

Just back to David and the reason he is selling this mic pre (nappies). I rang him about 4.00 pm this afternoon, he was walking into the maternity ward with wife and ready to become a parent. Welcome to the end of the rest of your life (although a very pleasant end most of the time).

Lila was borne at 5.19pm via ceaser "Lucky" 4.1KG's one very healthy baby girl.

Actually we have a few nappies stocked up but realistically nappies are expensive. Also have a few DIY jobs to build and just compleated 4 channels of API pre's.

I'm a freelance drummer (jazz mainly) based in Melbourne and am setting up a small project studio.

My son, who is now 10, was 4.5kg when born.. pushed out with no drugs either...

So....? . ( gunna brag now....) My wife has given birth to six .The first two born in a hospital birthing unit no drugs etc and i delivered our second child. The Midwife was from Holand... home births are fairly common in europe, and we learnt a lot about responsible homebirths and ways of avoiding complications. The next three were born in our mud brick home with the same doctor who attended the first two, and a home birth midwife, again no drugs. The last fella was a cesarian birth in hospital. We knew before hand from ultra sound that it had to be a cesar....Of all the births, the only stiches were for the cesar.
One drummer, one plays piano, three guitarists... surfboards, fishing rods, motorbike,.......
.....and i still get to have a bit of audio kit to play with...

...time to catch up on some sleep.
